AJC Certification & WIOA Section 188 Webinar Series

ETA is pleased to announce three upcoming webinars on AJC Certification and WIOA Section 188 to be jointly facilitated by the technical assistance teams from the Disability Employment Initiative and the LEAD Center. There are three key objectives: 1) Understand the link between WIOA with Section 188 in connection with compliance procedures and the certification process; 2) Learn replicable strategies from peers; 3) Identify key state/local stakeholders and partners to maximize success.

For each webinar in this series, the following includes the topic, date and time, along with the link to access online registration.
  • WIOA from a Disability Perspective & Section 188: A Powerful Foundation for Access - March 7, 2018 / 3:00 - 4:00 PM Eastern Time
    Overview of WIOA and its Section 188 Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination regulations; an essential framework for expanding access to individuals with disabilities, especially related to AJC Certification. Learn the roles of WIOA Core Partners in complying with WIOA disability-related provisions and Section 188, as well as their shared responsibility for administering aspects of AJC service delivery. Also learn about resources and key partners that can play a role in supporting the workforce system, particularly in programmatic access to boost employment outcomes of individuals with disabilities.   • State Workforce Systems that Are Making Equal Opportunity a Priority: Missouri, Virginia, California - March 21, 2018 / 3:00 - 4:30 PM Eastern Time
    Representatives from three States share their motivations, strategies, challenges and actions in implementing AJC Certification procedures, with Section 188 as the framework. Missouri’s commitment is emphasized through increased funding, strengthened partnerships and statewide training efforts designed to ensure equal opportunities for a diversity of customers. Virginia’s diverse, action-oriented WIOA taskforce is influencing policy, clarifying roles of partners and leveraging promising practices from the State’s DEI to improve programmatic access and outcomes for individuals with disabilities. California is employing two levels of AJC Certification that motivates AJCs to more strategically evaluate programmatic accessibility and develop continuous improvement plans. Click here to register.
  • Achieving 188 Compliance & AJC Certification: Key Strategies & Actions from Policy to Procedures - April 4, 2018 / 3:00 - 4:00 PM Eastern Time
    The final webinar will give a snapshot of the foundation set by WIOA’s disability-related provisions and Section 188. The most impactful strategies across all three states will be highlighted, including which partners have been essential to each region’s Section 188 implementation and AJC Certification. Action steps will be defined to help States assess where they fall along the spectrum of implementing Section 188 and AJC Certification, as well as the steps they may take to improve physical and programmatic access, build partnerships and increase employment outcomes of individuals with disabilities.
